Does anyone here know if CX moves other airline non-rev's from coach to premium economy, business or first if they are open?
I'm going from LAX-HKG-MNL in a few weeks and just wondering inf anyone had any experience non-reving on CX. I can fly my own airline in WBC for $120 e/w or take the chance of CX upgrading me on a ZED fare for $152. e/w (My traveling guest already purchased a ticket on CX so I was trying to fly together)Thanks!
no way not even their own staff. Even when coach is full and front is empty, they will not upgrade anyone to fit the Zed onboard. Unless you are their crew and they can put you in crew seat or jump
Bear in mind also that quite a few of their crew are from MNL and you might run a risk especially during weekends. Having said that, they have quite a few flights a day so should be quite ok.
Thanks for replying. I kinda thought that but wanted to make sure. I guess I will check and see if Philippine Airlines upgrades. IF not, I may go ahead and fly my carrier to HKG then buy a ZED from HKG to MNL on CX so at least we'll arrive MNL together. Or maybe just go ahead and meet him in Manila the next moring when he arrives. I'd rather pay $120 for WBC all the way from DTW-MNL that pay $152 and ride in coach on CX (or any other carrier) in coach.
They did not upgrade us out of SFO but gave us the exit row.
They were one of the best coach services I have had on over 70 different airlines flown.
What experiences about Philippine or Korean?

Is that the service or the seats you are talking about? Coz I find the seat a bit too short for my legs as there is a box beneath the seats (i think its for the individual TV) which kept prevent my foot/leg from being fully extended. Service wise, its ok (among asian airlines) but its a bit slow sometimes as I prefer to take my meals fast and then go to sleep

I'm not sure about Hawaiian but between CX, Philippine or Korean, I would take CX. I had bad experiences with KE once as the flight attendant insist on speaking Korean to me because I have slant eyes and looks like a korean, even after I told her I don't understand Korean!!!
Never took PR, but probably the same as the rest of South East Asian airlines
Very unlikely you will be upgraded on us. Even our yearly FOC is in coach, and only very very rarely upgradable. Staff in the US tend to be more liberal and might let you into a lounge or something, but i wouldn't bet money on an upgrade sorry.
747 economy/coach class seats aren't that great, unless the aircraft has been fitted with the new product which is very nice. Better seat pitch and the chair reclines down in a shell, so no one reclines on top of you!

The seats were exit row, so probably the best option besides an upgrade.
The food was good and the service was decent too.
