Yup, finally hit my 6 month mark so I can get ZEDs! Leaving in the morning, SFO-NRT-BKK. Should get first outbound, maybe even both legs. Return, who knows. I have a backup on Thai to LAX if needed.

Looking forward to the pics & report. Don't forget the back pillow. ^_^
I got Biz class outbound. I was pretty annoyed as it seemed F was a sure thing. But of course, last minute deadheading crewmembers knocked that out. Barely made C.
I'm sitting in NRT for another couple of hours. I'll most likely be in back for the next leg, unless a miracle occurs.
Aaaaaand in back it was. Not bad actually, but my body was saying ffffuuuu. I was in 30D on a 777, with no one beside me. I hooked up my CPAP machine and tried to sleep, but no luck. I was a very tired puppy when I got to my hotel.
At least you got there! When did you get into the city? I assume most US flts come in just before midnight. What area did you choose for a hotel? Are you still alive and well and enjoying BKK?
Flight arrived at 2315, bang on time! I'm staying at Novotel Fenix Silom (notice a pattern here lol?) right on Silom Road near the river. Very interesting city, so much glass and gliter yet so much pain and suffering. At least the homeless don't have to worry about being cold eh?
If I know I'm gonna be on aircraft that has power outlets, I bring the machine with me esp if I think I'm getting F or C. C class on UA is so narrow tho, it's tough for me to get it all hooked up. There's no storage, so I have to throw it under the seat after I recline it flat. Noise doesn't really bother anyone but I tell my seatmates that if it should bother them to please let me know so I can disconnect. Econ Plus on the 777 has it, down low between the seats. There's just not enough recline for me to really even try though.
I think this might be a good topic to keep on the board. I have mild apnea (genetics!) but humidifier usually saves my marriage. Maybe some brilliant moderator can move a few posts and rename.
PS--no pics of you on cpap necessary!

When you do an album, post a link, please. I can't wait to go back. We have 3 nts at Banyan Tree
Banyan Tree Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand - Hotel Travel Deals | Luxury Link
and I'm thinking of adding a few at Lebua @ State:
Lebua At State Tower in Bangkok, Thailand - Hotel Travel Deals | Luxury Link
This one nets out at $210 for 3 nts, should be perfect w/OW transfers at midnight. We can do this one first, go to Hua Hin or River Kwai, then back for Banyan Tree, then home.
Have you been thru the klongs yet? What about massages? Hey, ck out the flavors of pringles they sell at 7/11 type stores--wacky stuff! Gald you're have a great time.

Here's a link to all my BKK pics. Menu is included for the meal, as well as pics. There's some pics of the C class meals on the flight outbound to NRT also.
Enjoy!!
Menu! The meal, with wine was 100 USD. Well worth it!

OK...the 2nd best meal I've ever had was at Breeze, on top of the State Tower. That one was pretty darned expensive. Be warned. That's where the firework pics were taken too. Just finished my meal, and heard a pop. I stood up and went to the rail, and away they went!! Nice ringside seat!! Also, that's 2 blocks from Novotel. If you've a mind for good Brit/Irish food, there's a pub in the bottom of the Holiday Inn, catty corner across from Novotel on Silom Road. Jameson's Irish Pub, I think.
The Sky Bar at State is world renowned, go up and have a drink by all means!! Massages I did lol, daily! 7/11's there are wonderful, almost anything your heart desires can be bought there. Especially helpful at 3 am when you're starving!
I started to do the Banyan Tree, thru the Lux Link you sent me, but our rate at Novotel was 50 a night, wtf you cannot beat that, plus I had Accor points to burn. 5 nights, with my laundry, restaurant and bar bill wound up costing me 167 out of pocket!
Did you like the area around Silom Novotel? We may consider doing that for first nt. Love those bathroom roll shades. Shame on you--leaving the seat up! Bad habit...hahahaha
Most definitely!! Great area, transportation a 10 minute walk away (Skytrain), Robinsons Dept. Store 5 minutes, grocery store right up Silom Rd, 7/11 on several corners nearby, easy access to freeway for return trip to airport (very important, depending on the time of your flight).
As to the seat, I'm a guy. I live by myself. That seat is always gonna be up unless my butt is planted on it lol! :D
So. I'm sad. Nobody liked my piccys. I think I shall cry.
:(
I loved your pictures. I always hesitate to use FB since my alter ego put her name on it. Somehow, she gets alot of junk posted on her page and she doesn;t know how to do the settings.
I highly suspect I know what your main activity was in BKK, after seeing all those beautiful dishes. My niece and I ate our way thru the city (and Hua Hin) and did a cooking class. 5 days just wasn't enuff, was it? When are you going back?
Your fireworks pics are excellent, BTW. Loved the lotus flower ones. What kind of camera did you use? Also--was the tall tower the Novotel?
If you do go back, I highly recommend going to the River Kwai for a day or two. Also, the weekend night market at Amphawa. Do a homestay nearby on the river. You watch all the food being prepared on boats in the large canal (a very clean one BTW) Point and they cook and pass it up to you. Everyone sits on benches, eats and drinks beer. BYOB if you want wine. Take a boat at dusk to see the fireflies--masses of them!
Thankya! I shoot a Nikon D40, slightly older DSLR but good enough for my purposes. No, not sure what the tall tower was. Novotel was like 20 stories up tho, I should have taken a pic of the exterior lol.
Definitely I'm going back, I'll do some river trips. I've also been told to go to Pattaya, Phuket, and Chiang Mai. So I do have a reason to return!
seriously--river kwai is not to be missed. Phuket and those places are just Aussie playgrounds. Checkout LL 137 Pillars hotel in CM--I want to add that to our trip. Just came up on LuxLink.
