Buddy pass and S2 questions

My parents fly S3B alot.
My question is they would like my nephew to and would like to have him go with them from MSP to Orlando using a buddy pass.
I have read the Delta site on them but still am confused.
How are they paid for?
Do you declare where you are flying to when you buy them?
Do they expire?
Can you sell them back?

I want to fly to Cancun from MSP thru ATL (same day) using S2 with my wife and 1 yr old.
I know we each get 6 S2's a year, does each segment count as a S2 or is it by the listing so that each way would be only 1 S2 each?
Could I fly S2 from MSP to ATL and S3 from ATL to CUN the same day?

Hi Jason,
Buddy Passes (S4) are paid for with a credit card at the time of booking, which answers your next question, yes you need to declare where you are going. Not sure about the expiration.. maybe one year from date of issue. If you do not use them for some reason, they are 100% refundable.

Vacation Passes (S2) are good for a travel day. Once you list as an S2 that is your priority for all flights that day.

What happens if the buddy pass person doesn't make the flight, do they get rolled to the next flight like anyone else?

They get rolled over, but should always ask if so. Some airports have special desks for nonrevs and they should use those when possible. ck to see if MSP has one--bet it does.
I'd suggest you watch ALL Jettiquette videos and that will give you a bunch of info, via the corny formats and you'll be able to answer FAQs.
Your folks must know the ropes--changing options like, connecting thru DTW or CVG to MCO for the nephew--how old is he? Does he have to fly w/adult?
Agree w/Scot--use S2 for both legs (or more legs if you have to connect elsewhere--don't forget CVG has nonstop on wkends--Sat only?)

PS--don't forget embargo dates. Agent can't roll buddy over to an embargo date.

Could anyone point me in the right direction? A few yrs. ago my roommate and best friend set me up as her travel companion. DL PPR # etc. I Guess because in 10yrs. I'm the only one on the planet that hasn't hit her up for passes etc. She pays the 50 every yr. But, I have never used the privilege. I have a general idea how it works. But, I'd like to nail down a general idea of cost. Is the privilege just a reduced rate or do I travel like she would at a very nominal fee. The pass travel pocket card has my pass eligibility date of 1979. My daughter lives in TX. and it would be kinda cool to pop in give her a hug, then blast off. Anyone have a guesstimate what something like that would cost?

Prob about $80 RT Based on yield fare/mileage and fees/taxes
Buddy passes run about $98 for similar distances

And, came to the conclusion that you and Mig-something were the Aces-of-the-Bases! Gonna change the oil in my roommates car and winterize her bike. She'll dig that. So, bottom line for me is Fees/taxes/yield fare/mileage. add it all up and rule of thumb would be about .20cents a mi? And, I can use her seniority. Other than work she seldom flies. So, I should probably get off the dime and check out the travel codes avail. to me? I have access to DL intranet. But, want to make sure I stay under the radar until i know what I'm doing. Don't want to make waves.

There is an exact formula for the mileage and it's been posted here regarding pass travel. the not-so-exact part if fees and taxes (domestically they are pretty steady--security, etc) then sales tax.

For INT, add the departure tax and EACH country's fees for tourism etc. That's where it gets FUN (not)

If you are her travel companion, you fly free. As a companion, you have the same travel pass as them. IE S2,S3.
