My parents has a little disruption over the last weekend. WE all know that if one acft cancels it can screw up the whole day, which happen so they spent a day at the airport, came back the next morning and started all over again with the 1st flt. That 1st one was close and we all know how hectic it can be on getting a full flight out during the last minuites before departure. Well they both get the last 2 seats. Here's what happen, I am gathering from what they tell me. Some DL person was traveling with a buddy it sounds like. He is ahead of them in priority, but then started to have a conniption fit that his buddy won't get on with him. Well if that happened then one of my parents would be going alone. So to help out the agents situation they stood down gave up their seats and would try the next flt. Question: Do buddys travel at the same priorty if they are traveling with the employee?:mellow:

All depends on who you work for. I have delta benifits but work with an express carrier, if I list myself and buddy under the same PNR I will get dropped down to buddy pass priority.

Buddies at Delta ALWAYS travel as S4's. As Offroader said the employee can go down from a S3 to a S4 so they are the same priority. I can't think of a situation off the top of my head where I would give up my seat to a lower priority non-rev, but I know it would not be for an employee throwing a temper tantrum!

There is only one scenario where a buddy would be ahead on DL and that would be using One Great Team passes. In that case, the employee can choose anyone to accompany them. Buddy would be like employee family for those flts only. One RT / 2 pax.
This could not be the case here, because those 2 would have positive space coach and be upgradable . There are only 2 given (from the merger--we're using ours for South Africa in a few wks) We can be upgraded before any other nonrevs, very helpful for JNB outbound.
Nice of your folks, but sounds like the gate agent shouldn't have tolerated any lip from the senior employee. If you know for certain, I'd write it up.
More than once, I have given my seat to another employee--in uniform/commuting (when I was flying for recreation)
PS--do you (and parents) fly as S3 on all DL conx/mainline?

S3B. My parents are 83. I just talked to them about it again. They saw that this buddy looked older than them and just thought let him go with his friend and not make a scene. The agent told my dad that the next flt looked good for them getting on together instead of splitting up on this one. And it turned out that way with a few seats to spare. But you never know these days, those HK's come out of nowhere.

Glad to hear it worked out, but the waiting game can be daunting!

OK. I was going off the last sentence of this man's posting. His question: Do buddys travel at the same priorty if they are traveling with the employee? I did not see the word DELTA in the sentence implying to mean DELTA AIRLINES only. In fact, I may have missed out on the part involving Delta in this incident.
Had the sentence stated..."Do buddys travel at the same priority if they are traveling with the employee on DELTA?" Then I would have kept my opinion to myself.

The fact is, Jack, that he's DL retiree and flying his parents on DL. He mentions DL person w/buddy.
Like your humorous take on never being wrong...Take your bullet point # 2--not possible because you don't know jack about DL rules. That's been very obvious in other threads.

You're right SKC. My bust, this is the Delta forum. I may speak out of line at times, but the 29palms is never wrong. Everything about the guy is right.
