No more DL JFK/BUD, much to our chagrin.
Sure, fly AF and buy cheap zed (zed low). Probably on Hop! I've been several times when we flew. It was one of Boss' fave routes. Our second fave just below PRG. When are you going there?
You can likely zed from any major EU city. Check matrix.itasoftware for options, then check $ on DLnet.

Sure, fly AF to CDG and buy cheap zed (zed low). Probably on Hop! I've been several times when we covered it. It was one of Boss' fave routes. Our second fave just below PRG. When are you going there? Happy to offer any advice. I think you'll find more if you search BUD here.

Thanks, I'll look into doing that......
Find out who flies there, find out which of those airlines you have agreements with and fly to places you can get to, then come up with some plans.
Here's step 1 done for ya! Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Real desperate - fly to the closest city or hub and take a train.
Train tickets are sold Positive Space no goofy ZED Buddy standby fares.
Instead of a reduced rate pass think about buying a revenue ticket from
a easily reached Hub city to BUD.
Do a bit of research; Phineas Fogg "Around the World in 80 days" did not
have the internet you do. Check out the possibility of using an EuroRail Pass
and what other air/surface options are available.
Vienna is the closest city for train--almost 4 hours but service is frequent. Ezeds are really easy and convenient to buy/book. Refunds may take a bit of time but that depends on the airline. I did my last one online while I was on the 1 hr bus from MXP to Linate airport.
Wizzair is the cheapest.. 50EUR each way from BCN. 1x daily.
