I have a week off in the second week of December and would like to make a short trip to Europe.
I love big cities in the USA when they are decked out in Christmas finery. Wondered if the European cities did the same.
Suggestions of festivals or events to attend are also apprecitated.
Thanks in advance.

So I guess you've decided against Chicago?
I know I'm being vague but there's a place in Germany with a Christmas village. I'm sure someone will read this and know what I'm talking about. If not I will inquire next week at work.

Randy,
I could never miss Chicago in December. This year the show I go to is on December 18th. This year we will not have the entire family because they are all coming down to the Northern Gulf Coast to visit me for Christmas.
I have several days before the 18th to travel and Europe was an idea we batted around.
As time gets closer you will have to let me know what is going on up there the week of the 18th.

Hey Nic,
All our vacations are now paid at 75% of our salary. Therefore I will be going to NYC where my Oldest Sister will provide a free place to sleep, and my Brother-in-law some Broadway tickets.
I will have to save up for the UK. We may not be able to return until 2004.

Just about any city in Germany holds a Christmas Market (Christkindlmarkt) during Decembember. Nuremburg probably being the most famous one. You'll find them on the internet--just look for "Christkindlmarkt".
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays!
