I'm a flight attendant based in St Louis, MO... going to Monte Carlo early in August to attend a Moody Blues concert at the Sporting Club and need to find the best deal on a place to stay nearby. I'm not so much interested in luxury, more important that it be near the venue. Any suggestions or ideas??

Unfortunately there are a couple of contradictory points here .. cheap and Monte-Carlo tend never exist in the same sentence unless the word nothing is also present.
You best idea price wise would be to stay outside of Monaco and get train/taxi in and out. Given the time that the concert starts you could perhaps make an all-nighter of it ( mond you that might cost as much as a hotel room )and then catch the first train out in the morning.
Also ... in connection with your Azores question it might be an idea to see if you have an interline agreement with Portugalia as they fly LIS-NCE direct otherwise you may need to connect.
Thanks for the info. We are staying about a week and considering renting a car. Is this a wise move or a bad one? How bad is parking, etc? And can I drive on my Florida drivers license? We booked the Hotel Riviera Villefranche, between Nice and Monaco at a good rate. My main concern was making sure that whatever place we booked had air conditioning, considering there will be women decking out in cocktail dresses for the affair... there are also a lot of concerns among the people going about proper dress for the area. Any tips?

Renting a car should be OK especially as you drive on the wrong side already however if it is required or not depends upon what you intend to do whilst on the Cote d'Azur. French drivers will probably seem a bit more erratic than those back in the US. Alamo operate out of NCE airport and normally give good interline rates. The route to Villefrance is straight along the Autoroute. Parking should be OK as there is public parking around ( there is free parking on the sea front at Antibes for example ). www.cote.azur.fr has info about specific towns (it will test out your French reading ).
You'll need to check with the car hire company about the licence but I think it should be OK. Not too sure what you mean by proper dress for the area .. do you means at the Sporting Club or in the Cote D'Azur generally. Unfortunately ( or fortunately depending upon your opinion ) the last time I was there the dress code was Ferrari red, McLaren silver or Bennetton blue as it was for the F1 Grand Prix.
