I will be going to Rome from April 20th until April 27th (approx dates) I am hoping that this would be a good time to non-rev since it is after Easter and before the summer crowds. I can probably get to AMS without too much difficulty and catch KLM from AMS to FCO. Do you think this is a good plan?
Thanks

It could be good, depending... do you work for an airline? United, where I work, is beginning nonstop service to Rome in April. Might be worth checking into. Also, I have flown through Frankfurt on Lufthansa and it was very easy and cheap. Hope that helps!

i would not worry to much about getting to rome as long as you made it over the pond. from every major aiport you have several daily flights to rome and non reving within europe is quite easy

I agree with the last thread posting from OSFLYER. If your not flying during Easter period you should be ok. I work for US. Last year I went to FCO from PHL. I did get bumped as I expected as I left on a Friday. I ended flying to AMS and then KL to FCO. KL has several flights throughout the day. Returning from FCO, I had no problems getting to PHL directly on US. Here is the what I suggest. Get back up tickets for FCO-FRA on LH, FCO-PAR on AF, FCO-AMS on KL, and FCO-LHR on BA. All these airlines have several flights to their respective hubs from FCO. You do not have get back ups for every market, but it helps in the event if you get stuck at FCO. I always heard about FCO being difficult so I just prepared myself for plan "B" in the event I getted bumped. The best days to fly to/from FCO are midweek.

I was not able to go to Rome due to death in my family. If and when I do go, I'll give a full report.
Thanks for asking
