I am traveling to paris in Oct. I am retired and have not non-reved in a while. My question is when i pull up the flights to paris it list Air France as a codeshare partner. What does this mean? May I buy a standby ticket on them at a discount? The flights are heavy coming back to the states so may I purchase a standby on Air France as a back up? Then get a refund if I don't use it?
Thanks in advance

Are you a DL retiree? I assuming when you say you pull up the flights and see the AF that you are doing that in DL TravelNet. If you are a DL retiree, you can use the AF flights, but you must buy an ID96 at the airport. Also, AF only allows nonrevs to standby for economy only. I would hunt around the different routings and try to stick to DL across the pond and then use AF inside Europe. The fall is pretty easy to get to Europe even in Business class if you pick your flights well.

Thank you for the quick response Matt. Yes I am retired. Tell me what you would do. The flights look heavy coming back to the states. Should I buy an ID96 on Air France, to have if I don't get on Delta and then run over to the Air France counter and try and get on? Will they allow me to do that?

Carol...it depends. What date are you looking at? I will take a look at it and give you some feedback based on the actual day. All in all I try to avoid CDG if possible. Let me know and I will get back to you!

Hi, Carol. WHen you check your flight options, don't forget CVG--easy customs, etc--loads vary, too, but it may give you an extra choice.

Oct.20. Right now the loads look ok. But everyday they get worse. I am just trying to be as prepared as I can. I have been looking at jfk and cvg too. That raises another question for me if you please. If we get bumped for Atl at 9:20 will they put us on standby for the next Atl flight or do I have to tell them? And then if we get bumped off the second Atl flight do we have time to be relisted to Cvg or Jfk? What would YOU do to be as prepared as you could. Thanks so much for your help, this forum is excellent!
