Hi, what is the best way to get decent currency exchange rates when traveling to Europe? I have a Wells Fargo Visa card that I am looking to use to purchase my currency. Do we get discounts at airport currency converting locations? Is there some place else that I can possibly get a better rate? From what I am reading it is not good to do it at banks here in the US due to a higher conversion rate. What is your opinion? Where should I get my Euro? Thank you!

I think it might be better to use your debit/credit card for purchases as much as you can. Thats what my friend did in Frankfurt.
And I learned when travelling to Bogota that converting to colombian pesos in Atlanta vs. converting in BOG airport gave me less colombian pesos.

I usually will just change over a samll amount for spending cash and use a credit card for everything else.
You get a better rate that way. The airport change bureaus are outrageous!

Hi Jeff!
We do get a discount at the exchange offices in the airport however I normally take out a lil' bit of cash at an ATM in paris and then use my card for most everything I shop.... even with the credit cards extra procent for usage abroad you still get a better rate than at an exchange office.
Good luck on your flights to CDG, may the stand-by Gods be with you! I just looked at our flight 914 IAD to CDG...it is getting filled up as well.
Do you get a zed fare on AF??
Enjoy Paris!
