I got my 'paper' pass on delta for the way home and imagine my surprise when the gate agent told me that it would be an additional 40 pounds if I wanted to ride 'upfront' - Now my pass read Y/J, no one at pass travel warned me of this, nor was I told when I picked up my ticket in DTW, not even at the ticket counter at LHR - just at the gate!
The crew was nice enough to go ahead and place me up front without the extra, but still!
There is an additional tax if you go in J or F in GB and FR

I did indeed it seems - I was more shocked at the gate agent's attitude (she was incredibly snotty to all of the non revs) - ran into another 'dragon' in JFK (they came close to topping the Dragon Queen in MSP!) - I swear, why do some gate agents act like little tinpot rulers of their domains?
The flight crew was awesome though!
Another reason I avoid the UK like the plague.
On a bright note, did you see AMS tax is coming back down?
Now I can use that airport again!

Wow. I got lucky last week coming back from South Texas. Lady said the flights were overbooked over the intercom and to make sure all pax arrive through security and to the gate, or their seats will be taken. Sure enough, wife and I got on board, and probably more non revs. How about that? First flight of the morning and an overbooked flight with some no-shows.

You'll all be pleased to hear that the UK departure tax, APD, will be increasing from November.
