HEY everyone--near and far!! Has anyone been to Tallinn, Estonia??
I found this little gem and I really want to go (is that whining??)

Best idea to get there? We fly Helsinki via AMS which then means ferry 50 miles, so I was thinking AMS then zed to Tallinn? alternate ideas?

I loved TLL, and I went in the dead of winter when there was very little sunlight. Great place, great people and cheap (at least at the time). If you can, make sure to hit the garlic restaurant in the old town. I can't remember the name right now, but I'm sure anyone there can tel you. Pretty much everything on the menu has garlic (from the pre-dinner vodka to the after dinner coffee).
I flew to HEL then took a FinnComm flight to/from TLL.

cook garlic cloves in red wine/sugar/honey--allow to dry and dip in chocolate
I was told that bear was pretty popular with tourists!
I did a whole lot of snooping around and Baltic Air just does not thrill me. No option to fly Aeroflot from SVO--nuhuh, no how...
I think the best option is DL to PRG then Czech Air to TLL, due to the timing of flights. I don't want to arrive late in the day--and FRA cnx LH wasn't bad but arrived late on some days. At least I could do CVG/FRA for now--afetr August it will be, as they say, kaput!

HOWEVVVVAH---add $160 taxes/fees + $20 for ticketing charge--poof--RT was $200 euros per person...
Think I'll go back to the idea of CSA zed via Prague

Believe it or not, the garlic restaurant also served a garlic ice cream!
Time for a new thread on foods. You can bet 29Palms must have eaten some unusual stuff...
Though I may have been surrounded by gory looking foreign foods, I'm basically chickenshite to try them. No dog, no monkey meet, no cat, no snails, no balut in Philippines, no kangaroo meat, no fruit bat. I stick with the basic foods, and even the fast foods abroad. Beers are another story.

Have you thought about ZED on Estontan ( OV ) out of CPH or ARN??
( STN by the way is Stansted ... beware the extras if you go with SquasyJet !! ).

thanks--I had no clue and no chance to dig around to find that info easily.
flying into Heathrow, then getting to STN defeats the purpose of getting Etsonia in a reasonable time. We have no zed w/AY or Estonian Air or Air Baltic.
The long ferry from Stockholm is problematic too. I love ferries but the key is ease and timing.
I did find another hotel pkg that adds 2 nights and it's really nice(w/spa perks included) but do I want spend 5 nights in Tallinn? decisions....
