Oslo, anyone?
I've mentioned this here and there already, but before I go to IST in a few weeks, I'll be in OSL for a bit. Some time in some of the towns north of Oslo, mainly Elverum where some family is, but also Oslo itself. Anyone ever been? Well, I know olefles has, but anyone have some advice for a tourist like me?

Ole has been very helpful with some other info I needed. Have you visited tripadvisor forums yet? I usually find very nice people there--lots of locals and lots of frequent visitors. Good mix for tourists.
PS--if you need any more details for IST, I'll be in Thailand and Bali for a few weeks but reachable online when not in the air, of course!

Sounds good! We got a hotel right next to the Blue Mosque reserved, and I've been reading a Rick Steves book on Istanbul with lots of great tips and walking tour suggestions.
I should update my other thread with a rough itinerary for your approval :)

Never made it to Oslo. Should be a very interesting place to visit. I know that the Marine Corps has a program in NORTHERN NORWAY of staged military equipment. Don't know the exact spot, and wouldn't expect you to visit it just for that, but I understand that they are hidden inside CAVES bigger than anyone's imagination. It's not TOP SECRET or anything like this, in fact, they even mention it in military magazines, even online.

In BJUGN Norway, latitude like 63 and change. Same latitude as in Greenland. White nights. But probably toasty in the caves.
