When traveling on other Airlines I am sometimes unsure as to where to call or how to check in.
At USAirways our listing and load information number is 1-800-325-9999. With your ID-90 ticket you may check in at either the ticket counter or the gate. Except at some international cities we do not have a special counter for nonrev check in. We do not usually upgrade OA employees unless tickets are written with a First class ID-90 rate.

for bmi short haul you do not have to list because we work on a first come first serve basis for other carriers. there is no special counter ( just shortest queue). res will let you know what the loads are like UK 0870 60 70 555. for the US flights ring res to list 1-800 788 0555 this will get you a meal. ORD -check in at T5 and in IAD check -in at UA counter.

For NWA the same response, pick the shortest line, and proceed through it. Make sure you know what travel documents are needed, if traveling internationally. And we do not upgrade either unless you are on a specified first class positive space ticket.

OAL employees list on Alaska at our general reservations line - 1-800-252-7522. We are happy to give load factors and help find a better flight if necessary. Check in is at the ticket counter where a pass to get you through security will be issued (unless they are clearing the list immediately, which happens). If you are listing for an international flight, please be prepared to give us your citizenship information at that time (passport number, dob, and contact info if a US citizen) since we try to do as much for the ticket counter as possible. Once you give us that info, we will advise if any further documentation is required for travel. I know I personally appreciate knowing right away that you are an OAL employee wanting to list, but I always have time to help you out regardless of how busy we are. After all, sometimes I'm on the other end of the phone line!

I forgot to add that our policy is not to upgrade to first and we are pretty casual in our dress code. Neat, clean and nothing with holes is all we ask. For those who dress in today's popular fashions, please make sure the bottom of your top meets the top of your bottom.

Did that change recently - I haven't flown AS since February? I've always been able to standby for first when I checkin at the airport. However, I've only had avout a 25% success rate.

No, it hasn't changed. You asked for the policy when you have a coach ID90. I won't say that they never put you in first but they aren't SUPPOSED to. The same thing applies with us taking a companion. We aren't supposed to go in first but it still happens.

I rechecked our pass policy for oal employees and it says that we always put them in coach UNLESS the only seat available is in first class. They gate agents then have the option to upgrade them without cost.

QANTAS (QF/QFA):
Domestic, within AU -
List for a flight by calling any QF res office up to 8 hours before flight.
Check-in at any Y counter at the terminal. You will be processed as checked-in, but then will have to go to the Customer Service desk (all located airside, beyond security) where they process stand-by's/nonrevs on a flight by flight basis. (This keeps the gate lounges and gate agents free to worry about the pax and loading, without extra distractions of nonrev loading/sorting).
International -
List by calling QF res before travel.
Check-in at the terminals at a Y counter.
(In SYD, there is a special "RED S" counter purely for non-revs where you check in).
You do NOT pass security or any immigration checks, as you will be called up by name to the service desk area of the check-in counters if you clear for the flight. Only then can you proceed to gate past security etc.
Upgrades:
QF do *NOT* upgrade. If you have an ID50 firm for J or F (pending the interline agreement, these are rare for F) or are on a Boarding Priority that allows upgrade (again, very limited and normally Duty related travel) then you have the right to expect J.
QF until recently did not even allow it's own staff to upgrade until they had 15 years of service minimum, and then you had to buy a special J staff travel fare.
AIR CANADA (AC/ACA) -
List with Reservations.
Check In at normal Y counters.
The counter staff will tell you if you are to remain near the service desk at the counter or go to the gate area for clearance.
Upgrades are rare, and not according to policy, however they do happen. Right place at the right time sort of thing.
