I want to show my support to the airtravel industry on 9/11. I plan to Nonrev to NYC and visit family. Go into the city and see a musical or play.
I just wondered if anyone else out there has thought about how they will mark the date.
I feel the Airline industry should be a leader in this rememberance.
How will you remember the day?

I have not given it much thought but hope that some more ideas are posted because I would like to do something. The flag that I purchased and hung the evening of 9/11/01 will be flying in front of my home.

I think it would be nice to fly to NYC. However I am an EAP Coordinator at my airline & all I know right now is that I will be with some of the mental health people at one of our stations yet to be advised.

I am working so I'll be marking it by taking calls and talking to passengers. My house has had a flag up forever and will continue to have one. We never took it down (except at night). I really wanted to fly somewhere that day but I couldn't get it off. I had a passenger ask me if we were cutting our schedule on Sept. 11 (not really - we cut less than 5% of flights) and when I said we were still flying he said "Good, we can't let them win!" I agree. That man deliberately book on Sept. 11. Thank heavens for people like him.

I thought about coming across to the US for a few days over Sept 11th on principle but since the US government still would charge me over USD 60 in arrival and departure charges even for a 2 day visit I'll just have to observe it over this side of the pond.

I still get teary eyed when I think of that
day last year when I called work ( I was at home watching the news) and my friend said
"they can't find one of our planes"...That was the ill fated UA flight that crashed in Pennsylvania...We all have suffered so much this past year, lost loved ones, lost jobs and face an uncertain future in this airline industry, but I still can wake up every morning and thank GOD that we live in this great country and that I have a wonderfu family and good friends. I plan to fly to Hawaii this week and spend the 11th of September watching the sunrise on the beach, holding my 4 yr old son and counting my blessings.....
