http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Been hearing rumors regarding American wanting to pull out of St. Louis and just keep ORD and DFW as their main hubs. Something about cutting costs. Has anyone else heard this rumor?
I know, I know. Rumors flow all about in this industry. But this one is... well? I can SEE this actually happening if American is looking to cut more fat and stay lean. If you know what I mean.

I haven't heard that one but I did read that in a recent round of layoffs included most of the former TWA employees in STL.

http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...n_rolleyes.gif Wierd... today at counter this lady was inquiring about American discontinuing service in STL. And I asked, "Where did you hear this?" She read it in our local paper about two weeks ago, and she believes it was a small blurb in the business section of the paper. I said "Now that's interesting." I mentioned that we heard 'rumors' about such action, but who knows, really. She was concerned, since she and her family prefer to fly American over the other carriers and prefer to fly thru STL. Ahh... rumors about! Gotta love it. In this industry, I learned quick not to believe anything until I see it with my own very eyes, lol~

http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Well, it is true. Today we found out that we will be discontinuing service to STL from MLI. Our last day is 31Oct. American Eagle will be coming in instead and flying to ORD. I know most of our customers will be very dissapointed, since they strongly prefer flying to STL and avoiding ORD due to a lot of ATC delays if weather is an issue. Now I will need to find a new job. Oh well... we knew this day was coming after we heard TWA was going. Time to spif up the ole resume.
