Yes, it will be sad to see the red tail go, and the more we hear, the more frightened many of us get. One of the merger videos that was suppose to reassure NW about the 'New Delta' came across with the impression that NW employees were 'scrappy mavericks' that needed to be trained to behave like 'real' airline employees...

We'll see. http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e...R#>/mellow.gif
I am real sad to see it happen. I have loved the red tails every since I was a young kid peering through the airport fence.
No offense to a great company--Delta, but I do not like this merger.
Farewell, Red Tails.
"The biggest airplane in Northwest Airlines' fleet--a Boeing 747-400--will be the first aircraft to be painted in the red-white-and-blue color scheme of Delta Air Lines, which acquired Northwest last week."
"Northwest's s entire fleet is set to be repainted in Delta's color scheme within two years."
Delta is matching planes to routes
Classy gesture
"All Delta employees from Northwest are receiving a piece of a rudder from a retired NWA aircraft as a commemorative item.
Technical Operations employees removed the tail from a Boeing 747-200 and manufactured mini Red Tail items from the aircraft skin.
"We wanted to recognize the dedicated service each employee has provided while honoring the rich history and pride the pre-merger NWA employees associate with the Red Tail", said Jim Davis, director-Employee Engagement, NWA.
Nicely done.
Of course they're already selling on eBay http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e...DIR#>/wink.gif

I looked on ebay, didnt see any. Maybe that was a funny. But it'd sure be nice to have one.

Farewell Northwest
The Sun Will Never Set On Northwest Airlines
I'll miss the red-tail.
Hey Jumper I can't find the other thread... did your friend who wanted to sell their piece of the red tail end up doing so? They've all dried up on Ebay
I think she would take an offer. http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e...DIR#>/cool.gif
There's one on ebay right now - 20 hours left.
My first aviation job was working for a commuter that was part of the NorthWest Airlines "AIRLINK". We even had our planes painted NWA colors and the guy that painted the planes ( 2 SD-360 Shorts) was a Filipino worker there, (SPN) and he did an excellent job. It had a Quantas like kangaroo on the tail too. NWA would fly into GUM, and SPN and the airlink was us that would get the passangers to neighboring islands in GUM and CNMI. At that time, we had ID-95 through NWA, and they even comat'd my tools out there when I finished up my shipboard contract when they hired me on. My badge even had a NORTHWEST AIRLINK logo. Cheers to NWA. Well done.

My friend could always bring it here I guess when he comes next month. I checked and it was at USD$46 which is bargain basement... lot of bids too.Quote:

I wonder if at some point they will be quite valuable? Most defunct airlines stuff commands a high price these days

If only ! As an Ex Pan Am'er I have drawers of the stuff ... depends what's in vogue and demand for an item
Qantas you're right. Thanks for the correction.
The DL family is trying to get the NW folks to learn the DL Culture..IE...customer service. We've flown with NW cabin crew and they haven't learned the DL Way....
