Nonrev Tip
Here's a tip..Good books for traveling are a good idea for non-revs. Off the beaten path series for instance like if you are traveling to Montana- you can check out from the library Montana Off the beaten Path Book -great tips on fun side trips/daytrips. Frommers Series of travel books also are pretty good and sometimes the prices are cheaper then nonerv hotel prices.

Thanks for the tip, heirloomfarmocy, and (pardon the cliché, but it's tradition around here) welcome aboard! Because the contest thread you originally posted this in should probably be kept for the discussion itself, I'm going to split this off into its own topic.
Thanks,
Brian

Another good idea is to check out Trip Advisor's forums or Rick Steve's Graffiti Wall for tips on the city you might be visiting.
I got a great tip for a hotel near Munich Airport from a poster on Rick Steve's Graffiti Wall that came in handy during the 911 tragedy.
There were four of us traveling through Germany and we ended up getting one of the last rooms at the hotel - that I just happened to write down on a piece of paper and luckily put it in my bag. What luck!
Now when ever I travel, I keep a list of hotels closest to the airport in what ever city I am returning from, just in case I get bumped or the flight cancels.
