United companion pass rider register

I have question about united companion pass ( not buddy pass rider)
I have friend of mine and he works for United airlines. I asked him to put me in his companion pass rider. He told me that it'll take couple day because he need send my full name and my DOB to the human resource so they can process. Is that true ? I don't know how united companion pass riders listing themselves . Every time they want to fly, they just ask United employee list or they can access website jot list like United employee? How how the fee ? The pass rider pay the fee or employee ?

Assuming you're an enrolled friend and he's a UA mainline employee (not SkyWest or a regional carrier), that is true, yes. Also, he may have to wait until the new year begins, if he has someone else set up for this year. There is no fee, but the IRS sees that as a taxable benefit, which would come out of his paycheck. There is a calculator that will estimate what that "imputed income" deduction would be. There should also be a way for him to create a login for you under the employee reservation system. I can give some instructions if he's not sure how, it's a little hidden.

Thank for your information. I just want to make sure that He'll send my information to Human resource to process, isn't it? Other friend told me that just go to employee website and register enrolled friend. Don't need to go through human resource ?
if he register the login for me , it should be the same user name with him and different password ?
