Looking for places to nonrev to for a few Friday night-Sunday getaways. Out of DSM on AA. Any routes that are generally easy to get out and back out of ORD or DFW? I've found a lot of destinations, but loads aren't great coming back Sunday from most places.

How about MSP? From the airport, you can take a light rail train to the Mall of America on one end, downtown Minneapolis on the other. Neat city worth exploring, and that train is CHEAP: under $3 for a 2.5 hour ticket. If you can make multiple trips during that time, or even make a full round trip, more power to you. Just be sure you're off that train before your time expires.
Also, if you can get to DEN, I'll show you around sometime. I know a nice hotel in the Stapleton area with a free airport shuttle and great discounts for airline employees (I know UA, at least. They have a few airlines coming in and out of that place).
Some places have pretty consistent patterns, but just about everywhere has exceptions at some time or another. There are also some seasons that are better than others. Between Spring Break and Memorial Day, or between Labor Day and Thanksgiving. I think you can also get lucky between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Summer travel season is a pretty big one, so don't get heartbroken right away. Do you have access to US Airways flights yet, or just AA? My experience with US has been that they'll be more likely to have space.
Ended up going with PDX and we're going to drive out to the coast for a day or two. I'll definitely PM you about coming to DEN at some point. I've never been out but would like to.
Yea PDX is fun. Go over to Seaside Beach and hang out with the locals and ride bumpers. Nonrev101, Sundays are very tricky in the summer.
Your traveling will be easier when you have enough time in to use the zed's, that takes six months on AA. It's nice to know that you have options in case you get stuck. As to cities easy to visit, something also to consider is that unless you want to hang out at the airport, most cities will also require a car. ORD is easy and no car is needed as is NY and even MSY. I have also done a day trip to Mall of America they have or had a shuttle that took you to and from the Mall for next to nothing. YYZ is not a bad choice but public transportation from the airport is not great.
If I have to look at easy accessible flight options, decent public transportation and hotel affordability I would likely choose SFO, LAS and ORD. JAX and CLT not bad either. All these cities support Airline Employee Rates (AER's) too.

Koniucha, there's lots at the Mall of America in MSP that your daughter would probably love. Legoland, Nickelodeon Universe, a large American Girl store (that is, the store is large. Not, oh never mind...)
