BTW.....people here nice and friendly but highly on the weird side......
1st time 29? Yea it's always fun there especially if you can catch a break in the West Seattle weather. Don't forget to go behind the counter and catch a salmon.
better yet... buy a cold pack and take some home!
Some people are friendly but as you noticed very weird. But I find a lot of people to be very cold and passive aggressive. It's pretty frustrating to deal with it honestly. A lot of people here avoid eye contact at all cost and are buried in their phone most of the time.
Haha, it's Seattle. What did you expect? I like the fact that you can do a lot in Seattle without a car. It is such a walkable city and Pikes Market is awesome.
Im in anc now. Took a couple of weeks off. Heading up to denali soon. Great weather. Seattle was great. They even put my bag in a weather protected bag when i got it in anc our friends set us up in huge home great to see them since last visit 8 yrs ago. I wanted a hotel room but they insisted over and over im glad we arehere with them. GREAT Quiet neiborhood. This place is great. No allergies. No hot nasty wxr. Im out.
Totally agree about the weird factor. Boss commuted there for almost a year and it's very evident. He used to live there when his dad worked for the Big B and he feels the same. I love to visit but always keep in mind the 'tude--it's kinda like Austin Weird. Pike Place is a wonderful treat and I have a serious "crush" on Sur La Table store right there...But i must say--I DETEST Starbucks. ptoooey
Aside from New Orleans, Seattle has the highest concentration of weirdos per capita..........this is from a highly scientific study of my own personal experience
You guys really need to watch Portlandia.
Not a Starbucks fan either although the first time I was there, I did visit the original and got a drink. My fave breakfast place is Le Panier. Love there pan au chocolat washed down with a cappuccino. Their olive bread is good too and I usually bring a loaf home. Also like that doughnut place in the market. Can't remember the name.
Glad to hear I'm not the only person who thinks people there are 'weird'.
Ass in seat 12 hrs but great run. Saw some moose, a fox, porqupine, herd of caribou. Im out.
Portland doesn't do much for me--love the "green" notices all over the airport, but the signs are made of plastic! There must be a dozen in the ladies room alone! Recycle, my @ss...Their brains seem to have been globally warmed for too long...
Oh you better believe NOLA has some strange folks and trust me, I know strange, I do live in L.A., a hotbed of the strange and eccentric.:cool:
D2 I saw a vampire riding a bike leading a cemetery tour.
And then there’s Travel + Leisure magazine‘s America‘s Favorite Cities Survey, their readers voted New Orleans the nation‘s top city for “strange people” - 2013.
BTW, Portland was ranked #2 and L.A. it didn’t even make the top ten…..now that’s really strange.
