Alaska versus Hawaii
Ok, which of the two. Some say NEITHER? Maybe so, but if I had to chose one or the other.......even if say, I hit the lotto and had alot of money. Probably do a 6 month hitch in AK and the other in Hawaii. But lets say if you had to live in either or all year around with a pension........I'll take AK. Why? More space, more opportunities for making money, or enjoying a retirement. Again, depending on what one likes to do I suppose. AK cheaper, soemewhat, but more resources, more space more laid back, more beautiful and scenic, cleaner air, better attitudes. I think less competition for space and healthier activities people seem happier. More jobs available in AK than Hawaii. The tourist in AK blend in better, they disipitate into the wide open region whereas in HNL, they conglomerate in the resorts, waikiki beach. In Alaska, they tell you....."Move up here". In Hawaii, they say...."Go back to your mainland Houlie". Its a no brainer.

If I had to choose only one? Hawaii and for one reason only - the weather. After living in AZ for so long, I just don't think I could handle the winter. For me, however, AZ is pretty much perfect so I see no reason to leave.

Winter no problem, the problem is like 19 hours of darkness in winter. That can get eerie. Anchorage isn't like Fairbanks. It's cold yes, but not like interior Alaska can get like.
