Flying LH with a ZED ticket

I've recently flown with LH to the US (via FRA) on ZED tickets and this is my experience with them:

Listing is done through flyZED.com and is straightforward: you'll be sent a confirmation e-mail with a listing code and although it is a good idea to write this down or to print the mail, it isn't a must, since you're in their electronic system and nobody seems to aks for this code. Maybe they do if their system happens to be down or so at the time of check-in, so have it with you anyway.

If you connect through FRA or MUC with them, make sure to enter both your stretches as ONE listing however, that way the check-in agent can (more easily?) check your luggage to the final destination.

At the airport, you need to go to the manned check-in counters and you'll be given a boarding pass without seat assignment for your first stretch.
Check with the check-in agent if you're luggage is being checked right to the final destination (normally it is) and after that, it's best for you to go to the gate.
If you have a connecting flight with them, the gate agent will issue a boarding card for your second leg as he clears you on the first flight, so no need to worry about that.

At FRA and MUC, there is a large television screen in the waiting area of your gate (look around a bit; if you arrive early, it may just show a LH advertisement initially), showing all listed stby pax and the order in which they will be cleared.

Once boarding starts, this screen will also show the total number of unsold seats (ALL seats, so not only in Y, but also in F and C class), so you can pretty much do the math yourself to find out if you'll be accepted or not.

Somewhere during the boarding process, you'll see a seat number appearing next to your name and once this has happened, you can go up to the gate agent's desk to hand in your boarding pass without seat assignment for a real boarding pass (and hand in your flight coupon). At this point it is pointless to discuss your seating arrangement, but the screens mention the gate agent will do its best to give you the best remaining seats, and it seems from my experience they do so indeed.

Upgrades to C or F will only happen if Y if full (LH will NOT leave you behind if they have an open seat up front), unless you're entitled to it under the agreement between LH and your company.

After that, you're just a regular pax really.

Oh, for those Americans around here: LH serves free alcoholic beverages in Y class, so no need to take out your wallets.

I've found them to be hastle free to deal with and every staff member seems to know the system well. They also appear to be helpful in case you are denied boarding in order to accomodate you on the next available LH flight, so all in all, good points for LH.
