Sorry, HOW are the flights!
Most airlines have cut so many flight to hawaii that it is almost impossible to fly nonrev. I was in Hawaii in October the least traveled month in hawaii, I called to list on United Airlines for Thursday flight back to mainland, United has two flight out of HNL and Maui, The stand by list for all flight were all over 100 people, Called and could not even purchase a ticket for two weeks, AT the AA couter thay were over sold for paying customer, They were asking 30 people to give up there seats,
But don't worry you can purchas a ticket on Aloha out of Oak or Phx for about 199 round trip, Just look in Travelzoo.com, A little high right now but will go back down after spring break, ID 90 on United is 111 dollars anyway, Ouch, Good Hotel in Ohua Royal Ohana Islander one block from beach about 60 dollar a night, good clean room and close to beach, Well I hope this helps, I have nonrev to Hawaii about 12 times, but not again!!

Im going to non rev in april on American Airlines from miami to chicago or los angeles to maui....what do you think?
you might want to check ATA, American Trans Air, Their charter prices are very reasonable for Honolulu. Once there you can purchase an inter island fare from a travel agent cheaper than you can thru regular channels. They have coupons for locals.
Would you not be better first trying your direct MIA-HNL and then worry about getting to OGG from HNL as there a plenty of inter-hawaiian flights?
There are no direct flights to miami from Honolulu.
AA283 appears to fly MIA-HNL direct stopping over in LAX en route. You could also look at the direct AA flight from DFW-OGG if you can get to DFW for a noon flight.
I know several people here in my office who nonrev to HNL and OGG regularly. Most go directly from PHX nonstop, and a few go through LAX, mostly to avoid a red eye return. They have used HA and TZ, no complaints on either, and all got on the flights they wanted, the first time. For example, 3 gals went for a weekend away on TZ in October, had no issues.
Now with TZ increasing their frequency to Hawaii (read WN codeshare), there may be a chance of more nonrev spots. This is happening here in PHX, also LAS and PDX I think, possibly more.
Don't know if you've considered nonrev'ing across the continental US, then taking a hop over, but seems that may work.

Ok, I just checked and TZ currently has 2x weekly nonstop service PHX-OGG. That is set to increase to 5x weekly next month I think, and daily in June.
My airline, HP, has nonstop MIA and FLL-PHX; however, it looks like you'd need to overnight here.
Doesn't sound like a bad trip, 1 stop all the way through. Let me know if you want me to check loads on the MIA or FLLPHX legs.
I noticed today in travel zoo, march 15, round trip to maui from LAX, rent a car and seven nights at maui islander, 480 dollars what a deal

Hello everyone,
THanks for all your help,
I have one more question can anyone check to see if American airlines has an embargo in April to Hawaii....Thanks a bunch
The D3 travel embargo to Hawaii usually starts in June. However as everyone has pointed out traveling to/from Hawaii is always tricky.
My two cents--fly out of LA, you have more AA flights and more carriers (HA,NW,UA,TZ) and when traveling to Hawaii, you definately want lots of options and lots of back-up. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Keep an eye on those loads.
Keep'em flying
Getting to Hawaii standby on Hawaiian or Aloha is the easiest bet based on the total # of flights to Hawaiidivided by total employees. Mega carrier with 8 flights a day and 50,000 employees competing for those seats is not going to be as easy as Hawaiian or Aloha 15-8 flights a day and only 3000 employees competing for those seats. Worth checking out.
