I'll be off Dec. 27-29 and will be with my kids. Do you think holiday trafic will be down enough by the 28th or 29th to catch a good day trip with the kids? If so, where's a good spot to go out of ATL? Some place funa and not too cold would be good. Anyone done SAT? I'll be with my boy (8) and step-daughter (12). Due to my pending divorce my step-daughter will lose her travel benefits soon so I'm hoping to come up with something special that she'll remember. TIA for any suggestions.

Yeah this is a bit late but maybe you'd like to refer to this in the future. I've done a daytrip to SAT back when I was about 9 years old. I was with my mother and two brothers. We arrived on an early morning flight and toured around the alamo that morning, saw a few statues, and ate lunch. We then headed to Schlitterbaun (spelling needs to be corrected), the world's largest waterpark. That was loads of fun, even though we only had a few hours to spend there. We then left early the next morning.
Sorry to hear your daughter will lose her benefits. I would be devastated if that happened to me.

Yes Chris, a little late for responding to you on this one but I agree that SAT is a great place. I go there often since it is only a three hour drive from Houston. Riverwalk area is awesome, but be sure to visit the SPANISH MISSIONS. I took some photos of those missions on my last trip. You can check them out at...
