Hi - we're on holiday in Canada from England, and I'm getting worried about getting back to LON from YVR. we plan on trying from 04JUL, and have ZED tickets for Air Canada, but my company is Alitalia. The AC flights look pretty full, but the BA flights look more available.
Since BA are in the ZED agreement along with AC, do you reckon there's any chance that they might accept our tickets. I can't remember offhand what the rules say about this, and i'm in a hotel room in Banff at the moment. I'd happily buy new ZED tickets on BA, but my nearest office is in Toronto, so that's not a possibility.
Suggestions, advice, welcomed!

BA should accept them.
I have never had a problem with a ZED carrier not accepting my tickets from another airline. The most recent was in April when AA(FCO-JFK) accepted my AZ(FCO-ORD) ticket because the AZ flight cancelled.

Wow, a rare instance of AZ canceling - hardly ever happens!
Thanks so much for your advice, most helpful - Canada and the Canadians are lovely.

Provided the ticket is at the ZM fare rather than the ZL fare then they should take it. If is specified as AC only I'd go a bit early in case BA want you to get it endorsed by AC. ZEDs normally get around this by specifying all the accepting carriers on the ticket.

I don't know if your Zed fare covers this or not, but if you could get yourself even as far as YYZ on AC you'd stand a much better chance of getting home because it's a bigger hub for Europe-bound flights. Plus you'd be still heading in the right direction http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e...IR#>/smile.gif

Thanks for all the help folks. I don't have any easy (cheap) way of getting to YYZ, so it does have to be YVR. I'll see what BA say, and get there in plenty of time in case i need an endorsement. At least both AC and BA seem to be in the same terminal. And if I really get stuck, maybe AC will let me go to FRA instead, and I'll make my way back to the UK from there.

If you are still intending to travel on the 4th the two BA flights look fine.

Thanks all for your help and advise, much appreciated. This is a great and useful site.
In the end the AC flights didn't look too bad. We didn't get on the first one but got what seemed to be the last couple of seats on the later flight (864?) 3 hours later.
I was greatly impressed by the AC people, at LHR, YUL and in flight. Totally professional, but friendly as well. Now reading about huge cutbacks of staff at AC, and feeling a bit sad.
