Hi Amy, well there is definately plenty to do in LA, ranging from amusement parks to sunning on Zuma Beach. It really just depends on what you/your family like to do.
My Los Angeles article on the articles homepage and this LA - correspondent thread will give you a list of some of my favorite places.

BTW, LA is very spread out, you will need a car.
