Looking at heading to ORD or MSP from NRT in April...
Choices are AA, JL, NW
Which would you choose and why?
I'm leaning to NW cause they go to MSP, and my friend who works there has this odd idea that the crew will upgrade me in exchange for chocolate (yeah right) http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e...DIR#>/cool.gif
But AA gives me a better boarding priority, and i've never tried JL.
Tough choice you have to make but I will say that one of the best meals I have had in the air was on JL.
From what I understand NW doesn't upgrade because employees pay extra for upper class travel. Is that still right? I won't fly NW int for that reason.

I liked NWA until I saw the way the technicians got screwed a few years back and let the scabs work the airline.

I really don't see how anyone would upgrade another airline employee over their own? maybe your friend needs to fancy himself a bit less full? hahaha--sorry I don't use those smiley winkies etc....
and you are reading right, that jumper, who is NW employee, doesn't get upgrades, yes? I recommend not holding your breath--or do you look good in blue?

That being said... a friend of a friend worked for an airline and quit but still had his ID. He showed it at the service desk whenever he went somewhere and he got upgraded on intl sectors everytime, bar once. I'm just not the type who feels right in doing that kind of thing!
I've just never flown NW or JL, nor AA internationally. For some reason I think AA would have small uncomfortable seats. I imagine JL the same...
I still need to check loads. NW is open, need to call AA and JL so the decision may be made for me.
I've got no subjective advice, for me it would be a decision based on who's flight is more open and the cost of each airlines passes. That higher priority on AA would also be a bump up on the ladder!
I flew to NRT on NW with a zed in January. Got upgraded to WBC, but then again I was wearing a three piece suit (long story) as opposed to business casual. I didn't even ask if it was available because of what I've heard about NW's upgrading policy. Conversely, I've heard that AA is much more generous about upgrading non-revs. I don't have any personal experience, as I've only used a zed on AA for domestic routes where first had been full. The last time I took them I was actually on my way back from NRT, and due to a crazy routing ended up with AA. That was an interesting day!
I would love to take JL to experience the service, but unfortunately US only has an ID75 agreement with them I believe. Too expensive.

I've also only travelled on AA domestically, but I have to say their staff have always been so nice to me.
