Any experience non-revving out of BKK to any US West Coast city?

Hey all,

I (and possibly 2 other airline employee/coworkers) will be non-revving out of BKK back to the US - any W Coast city on March 24 or 25th, 2010. Anyone had experience non-revving with Thai Air? That would be preferable as they fly direct to LAX.

Going to Asia - I plan to non-rev thru Eva Air from SEA-TPE-SIN. Or I can also do SEA-NRT. But this is kind of least of my concern, I am more concern of coming back to the US. I've heard horror stories of non-revving on TG, which makes me think I shd just start buying a ticket.

Any input would be highly appreciated. THanks!

My wife (UA FA) and I non-revved out of BKK last year to Nagoya Japan in order to get back to the left (West) coast.

To be honest, it was a pain in the arse. The customer service agents gave my wife a very hard time about flying standby, even though she had the proper standby tickets purchased in advance from United.

The agents didn't give us our boarding passes until something like 20 minutes prior to departure, and we still had to get through security, which was a nightmare. I literally had to push my way through the lines to get to the gate barely a few minutes before the scheduled departure. Naturally, the flight departed late.

I fly out of BKK often. I find TG very helpful. They have a special desk for staff check-in, which all non-revs should use. I usually take the red-eye to NRT, which always has lots of seats. Unfortunately, I have no experience with the non-stop out of BKK to LAX. Use FLYZED to check the availability of TG. You can also list for TG on FLY ZED. Hope this helps a little.

I spoke to my wife about our experience getting out of BKK to Nagoya.

She said that the Thai Airways CSRs wanted proof of our next leg from Nagoya to SFO. Umm, flying space available, that really isn't possible. My wife had to track down a United employee to get something printed out to satisfy the CSRs. This is the only time we can recall having to to this.

She also said that we weren't on the plane more than 5 minutes when the door was shut.

Are you taking the red eye from BKK to NRT on TG or on another airline?
