Recently I priced two ZED fares
1 KLM AMS-YUL 106$
2 AF JFK-CDG 76$
these fares were broken down into base fare & taxes. My question is how/when would I pay the departure taxes? Flying on DL, departure taxes are taken out by payroll deductions. Anyone able to shed some light on this.
Thanks,
Tchau

My Comair retiree friends have to pay by credit card
Wondering why you'd want to fly AF instead of DL? We still have NS CVG/CDG and service has always been good. Heck, even the ramp service is pretty decent at CVG...
(or--I just considered--is it the AC??)

The taxes are already in the price of the ZED. DL gets a special rate on AF, which is lower than ZED low. There are no departure taxes out of JFK, just 15-20 bucks arrival taxes. Usually you pay no taxes USA-Europe, when you come back you would pay the 40USD or so out of Germany, plus the 15-10USD to enter USA. Most places only have departure taxes, USA only has arrival taxes, some places have both. Price JFK-LHR, then price LHR-JFK, look at the price difference.
I'm not sure the exact details of the DL/AF nonrev benefits. I think it should be super cheap and biz class eligible, considering DL is flying AF routes(PIT-CDG) and AF took over all JFK-CDG. It's probably not though. I'd like to try out almost every airline, but I would rather take another DL flight in BizElite across the Atlantic than ride British Airways in Y.
You still on the ramp at CVG? How's Regional Elite treating everyone out there?

Yes, mrs767er it is to ride the A380 http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e...DIR#>/wink.gif and the KLM flight I want to take is to get on the MD11 lol..
ColoAvs19, I'm still on the ramp. REAS is about as good to us as would be expected (poor). Nothing like Comair which took better care of us. Waiting for word on an ASA position though, really hoping for that.

you do know that the AF380 has been grounded frequently, don't you?
SQ has had "issues" too

Have a good trip!
I did the AF 380 on the same route last month. It was all right. Inside looks like any other bird but still cool to ride.
I was lower deck, at about wing level.
Did an MD-11 years ago on Finnair on the JFK-HEL route.

I rode the A380 on Emirates. Same conclusion, It's cool to say you've ridden it, but you can't really tell what you're on from the inside.
I have yet to ride an MD11, but I'm getting plenty of flights on the DC10. Actually should be on one tomorrow...
I still have alot of friends that work for RE. I was never looking forward to RE, and was fortunate to have an opportunity come up in November that I would have taken no matter what the situation. Every person that I know that works at RE is desperately trying to get out. It is pretty sad, actually. I loved my job with Comair. I really hope RE gets better for all the great people that work there. It seems they just want some people to come along for super cheap for a few months, and leave. No concern w/ customer service, no concern w/ job performance, just concerned with price.
Hope it all works out for you. Keep your eyes open, they're some really cool jobs out there. Good luck w/ your trip.
