Breaking FLL Lockdown. Shooting

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. (WPEC) - A shooting incident was reported at the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The Broward County Sheriff confirmed there were "multiple people dead."
Officials confirmed at least five people died in the shooting, and eight injured.
According to a spokesperson, the incident happened at terminal 2 in a baggage area.

Witnesses told reporters, "we heard the shots, just popping shots."
"I saw a man with a woman bleeding profusely and turning pale and just a trail of blood leaving from one of the doors, leading outside."



According to CNN, the shooter is in custody; he is believed to be the only suspect.

Update....
Many images flashed across social media as more information of the shooting, which also saw eight people injured and taken the hospital, but many of the images have been panned as not showing Santiago.
The site posted that it is “99%” sure that two other pictures supposedly of Santiago are not of him, and the one shown above is a 26-year-old from Alaska.

Earlier reports said Santiago was from the New York area, however, ABC News is reporting Santiago was not only a member of the National Guard but was also based in Alaska before leaving in August. He was reportedly honorably discharged.

UPDATE: 4:08 p.m. EDT -- Esteban Santiago, the alleged shooter who killed five people and injured eight others at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Friday afternoon, was reportedly a former member of the U.S. military, ABC News reported.

Update...

• The shooting suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Esteban Santiago who was reportedly wearing a Star Wars T-shirt and carrying a military ID. He was publicly identified by U.S. Senator Bill Nelson of Florida.
• Broward County Commissioner Chip LaMarca said the shooter was a passenger and checked the gun in his luggage. The gunman loaded the firearm in a bathroom after retrieving it at baggage claim, LaMarca said.
• The shooter lay on the floor “spread-eagle” and waited for police to apprehend him after running out of ammunition, witnesses said.
• The suspect was taken into custody without incident and is being interrogated by FBI agents and sheriff’s deputies, said Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel.
• Esteban Santiago was reportedly born in New Jersey in 1990 and had been living in Alaska, according to public documents.
• Authorities say officers are conducting an active search of the airport after receiving unconfirmed reports of additional gunfire.
