DFW Named best airport in North America

Spending millions on LED lights above parking spaces, more custodial services to clean bathrooms and automated passport entry machines to keep lines short in customs, has paid off for Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.
On Monday, the airport was named the “best large airport in North America” for customers service by the Airports Council International. The number one rank came from passenger surveys conducted by ACI at over 320 airports world wide. The airport celebrated its award by placing a giant orange “#1” in front of its DFW logo outside of its headquarters. It also gave out hundreds of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes to its employees at an unveiling ceremony on Monday.
“Our employees have been focused on taking good care of our customers for many years. We’re making the right investments...but at the end of the day it’s the interaction our customers have with our people,” said DFW Airport chief executive Sean Donohue.

Donohue noted the high customer service ranking came during a year when three of its five terminals were under major construction as part of the $3 billion terminal renovation project. He added that DFW Airport’s scores were higher than the number one ranked airports in Europe and South America as well.
The airport received high scores from international passengers for the variety and quality of the concessionaires in Terminal D and for the cleanliness of the terminals and bathrooms.

The joys of racing between terminals to attempt to make the next flight... that leaves in less than an hour than the flight one did not make the cut for. Better yet, to run or to skylink from a high gate to a low gate departing from the same terminal? At least the food options (i.e. Cousins BBQ) are good and reasonably priced.

Or the joy when SkyLink is running in only one direction and you have to make the en…tire loop... Or when bad weather forces the suspension of service and you have to walk and walk and walk and ………..walk, trust me, it’s then you know how big that airport is.

DFW has great restaurants. Too bad the skylink stops working during lightening storms - which seem to be often in Dallas. Only a crazy person gives themselves only 1 hour for a connection there. Me, I make sure I have a minimum of 1.5 hours to be on the safe side.
