Hello ladies and gents, fellow non-rev personnel. I have been posting here for the past week or so, and I have come to notice that this forum is pretty much dead. I notice that when people post, the VIEWS are up to 170 or more, and like only one reply. ALL OVER THIS FORUM. People post but are not getting responses. Why is this? Is it that we are too busy running airlines or trying to save it? I am disappointed in the lack of interest in alot of good topics here. I've noticed that I have responded to postings of which dates some three months or more. Those people are long gone. They probably decided not to mingle around here anymore.

Keep a few of things in mind. First, many of our members don't visit daily - maybe once a week or once a month. In addition our members can only comment on topics about which they have knowledge. Maybe the viewers are people interested in the question and the potential response, but may not have direct knowledge to be able to answer the question.
Another thing to remember is that the summer is a busy travel season and we all are working hard to please our pax. September begins a major slowdown and many of our fellow nonrevs are planning their own getaways. These two things can make the forum a little slow at times. If you hang around you will notice slow periods but there are also times when the forum is hopping too!
Welcome aboard and please feel free to jump in where and when you please. Invite your friends and fellow airline employees to join us - this invitation may bring much needed knowledge to our efforts. Thank you! Your contribution to Nonrev can only make this a better place.

I agree with Randy there are numerous reasons why some posts get no or only one response.
It could be, as Randy said, people scan eveything (making the views high) and post only when they feel they can offer helpful advice. It could be the first reply to a topic was so on point that there is absolutely nothing left to add. Or, it might be as simple as some people, while finding a specific topic or trip report interesting, just aren't comfortable writing a response. Of course the sudden death of some threads could be the work of a *insert scary music* thread killer! I know I for one have been posting some pretty funny stuff in 'off topics', I mean 'Y did the chicken cross the road' was hilarious and not so much as one http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...on_biggrin.gif. But nothing stops me!

Yes, I figured it was something along those lines. I mean, like I thought I had some interesting stories of being abroad, but if the people don't travel, they can't relate. There is another interesting site called www.letsgo.com they have a forum pretty much like this but again, little responses. Yes, I will stick around and check here and there. I will continue to post of other places, and give reports when I go to places. I plan a Nicaragua trip to do some volcano climbing in about two weeks from now. Thank you for your kind responses. I think that lots of lurkers to a few poster ratio is typical for an Internet forum. Usually the ones with high numbers of posts are just very highly trafficed and they are often topics that people are very passionate about i.e. religion, politics, industry issues etc. Some of our busiest posts in the past have included some controversy, like me putting a verse from the Bible on the home page after 9/11 or someone getting poor customer service at the gate. I have found it challenging to get people to take the time to share their travel information. It takes a certain type of person - one passionate about interline travel that enjoys electronic/Internet communication. I think most who come are looking to GET info for their trip planning but just don't take the time to come back and share after the trip.
However, we are slowly but steadily growing in number of registered users. I send e-mails to those who book cars and hotels to let them know about the forum. I hope to come up with a little media kit soon which other nonrevs can place on company bulletin boards with small cards to take away. You can find some tools to help spread the word by going to the home page at www.nonrev.net/ and selecting "Spread the Word" from the left hand index.

Hello Randy. I just got back, will develop some pictures tomorrow. Posting may be different, since I may need directions. And gotta hook up my scanner. Make a long story short, I don't think doing 5 miles uphill out of shape is a "walk in the park". It's dam near sadistic. How do I describe the last mile up? PURE TORTURE. Next time I decide to climb a volcano, I'll pay the driver to go all the way up. Please do not try this at home. Go to the Central American page, and I'll post a rundown. P.S. I gotta admit though.
