This quiz is about airports. I'll give you some clues and you have to identify the airport. All airports are in the U.S.
http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/aircraft/Plane1.gifDisclaimer: Once again I had help with this quiz. However because there was drinking and a very exciting basketball playoff game going on at the time, the accuracy of the help is somewhat suspect, so please disregard all false clues. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif BTW, the Lakers won on a last second (0.4 second) shot. GO LAKERS! http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/clap.gif
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
1- I am the fifth (in terms of takeoffs and landings) busiest airport in the U.S. and the hub for two carriers. I have three terminals buildings-T2, T3 and T4 and because temperatures can soar to 120 in the summer, cargo and sometimes pax have to be off-loaded for airplanes to get off the ground.
2- I began as McCoy Air Force Base, now I'm named after a city in the Sunshine state. My old code was ORL.
3- Though the code DCA hasn't changed, the name of the airport has, what is it called now?
4- My old code was SAC, what's my new code?
5- Originally I was known as Candler Field, but I've gone through a few names changes since then. I'm very busy and some say (actually only one person said this, but he was very very insistent) that I was built on old Coke bottle caps.
6- I was built to replace another; I'm twice the size of Manhattan and bigger than the entire city of Boston or San Francisco. I have 5 runways all over 2 1/2 miles long.
HINT-I'm not DFW.
7- At one time I was known as Orchard Field, but my name was changed in 1949 to honor a WWII fighter pilot. I once was the world's busiest airport but now another holds that title.
8- I was once called Idewild Airport, now I have a new name.
Hint- my code is not NNY
9- I was originally built in the 1920's and used mainly by airmail contractors. I was renamed in 1949 to honor a battle and NOT as many think, a geographic position.
10- When flying out of Washington D.C., what airfield is used by the president?
Bonus
My airline code is HP; my call sign is Cactus, what's my name. [/list]
As previously stated, a detailed explanation of scoring is available by sending Mrs. Field's chocolate chips cookies (with walnuts) to Migflanker at LAX. Inquiries will be answered within 6 to 8 weeks and are not valid in Washington, the Carolinas and certain Canadian provinces.
Ok, lets see some answers http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/biggles.gif

Interesting comment....aren't you the same person that thought a 'sonic boom vacuum' was standard equipment in stables? http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...on_biggrin.gif And, no, you will never live that down. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Hi Coyne,
You were right about Atlanta. My dad flew a Piper Cub out of it when it was Candler Field.
I once inquired about a rental home from an older fella next to the aiport and he started telling me all kinds of wingwalker and barnstormer stories.

Quiz 5a- (see photo above)
No guesses...it appears a clue is needed http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/roflmao.gif
A clue--really cold, but cheap lobster. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

My guess is Lynchville, Maine on the border of White Mountain National Forest. Thanks for the clue. I was sure it was going to be in the midwest until you gave some help.
-
Lynchville Maine is correct. http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/thumbs.gif
I guess, even with a grrrreat clue, it was a little unrealistic to expect--Lynchville Maine, Oxford County, the intersection of Routes 5 and 35, northeast side. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...on_biggrin.gif
