Aviation quiz-12 is another mystery photo quiz. I'll post a photo and you have to identify what's going on, really very easy. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif However just so we don't have a repeat of Quiz-10, which was open for almost 6 months http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif, with this quiz I'm encouraging 'best guess' answers. That's right; even if you don't know the slats from the flaps I encourage you to post an answer. All 'best guess' answers will be awarded points on a purely subjective basis with absolutely no rhyme or reason, making the quiz completely arbitrary and in no way representative of any general aviation knowledge, therefore post away and have fun.
As previously stated a detailed explanation of scoring is available by sending Mrs. Field's chocolate chip cookies (with walnuts) to me at LAX. Inquiries will be answered within 6 to 8 weeks and are not valid in certain cities, provinces and countries.
Ok, lets see some answers.

It's having it's blue rinse after the cut and perm.
Deicing.
-
I'll guess: de-icing the wings?
Also, where are you at LAX in case I happen to be there with extra cookies?
-
man, you people are serious about that non-smoking thing!

It appears we're off to a good start, but because there's always a chance of late arrivals, cumulative scores will be kept and posted at the end of the quiz. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Scooby, with a iffy statement like that, you don't even get my alternate cookie drop-off location. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...on_biggrin.gif
Now on the #2
The word ETOPS appears on some aircraft, but not all, what does ETOPS stand for? Don't google!
Edited to post link instead of attachment...it does not appear to be working. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

One message is enough... don't need 4 of the same!

and Randy, not sure how this applies to the current post, but yes, California is a no smoking state. I don't want to visit Chicago again until they get similar laws (tobacco addicts are spewing fumes everywhere there... disgusting!)

Well, I agree with you on the smoking thing but don't hold your breath (no pun intended) for Chicago to go smoke-free. We're a BIG smoking town.
This also means you're going to have BIG problems traveling to Latin America, Europe or Asia. Non-smoking rules are much less strict most places in the world than here.
But, in the end, while I may object to smoking it doesn't bother me.

Attention gamers--quiz 12 is suspended.
You know a mystery photo quiz without mystery photos has a few inherent problems. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...on_biggrin.gif

Look at this photo from Airliners.net. See those (4) small rectangular panels jutting out on the tail right below the rudder, what is that.
(uh-huh this is the best photo I could find http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...on_biggrin.gif http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif) http://www.airliners.net/open.file/759432/M
