Mig,
Here's another plane your husband can watch for.
-
I like the colors, but I just can't ID the "theme". I'm going to need a clue, and a good one too. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...on_biggrin.gif

*rattles old brain cells* Well I know it's not an animal, even though you've put the picture in a thread with penguins, whales and bears. But your 'good clue' is "...a toss up between this and crab." (animals??? http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...n_confused.gif) Soooo I'm going down the path of a mythological animal which symbolizes a Southwest destination.
*drums fingers on desk* which makes no sense.
I don't have enough info, so I'll ask for another clue, and Randy I warning you, if the answer involves some secret Southwest symbol/code.... http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

My guess is New Orleans. The aircraft looks rather Mardi Grasish. If it is MSY I would have placed a Crawfish or Gator on the side.
-
It is the WN Maryland plane. They unveiled it earlier this week at BWI.
HP also has several specialty planes, on our 757's. The AZ and NV planes for both HP and WN look similar.
-
That's the Maryland state flag? Are you sure? Where's the Baltimore Oriole? I don't know about this...
Randy start explaining. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Bingo, we have a winner!http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...on_biggrin.gif It is the state flag of Maryland. When planning the new plane it was suggested that it be a large crab to honor the state since no one really recongnizes the state flag. It's definitely one of our nation's more colorful and unusual. Crab cakes anyone?
Now I'm going to poke around the HP website to find those specialty aircraft photos.

Okay, Tim, I found them. They're cool. Now that I think of it I have seen the Ohio plane and the Diamondbacks, too. The NV plane looks a lot like ours. The AZ plane seems impressionist - kinda neet!

In honor of BWI, our 3rd largest operation. A continuation of the celebration of the opening earlier this month of our new BWI terminal. It took place on Flag Day.

My question still stands--
Where is the Baltimore Oriole? http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...on_biggrin.gif

If you look at the state flags for most of the original 13 states/colonies, you'll see that they are just the coats of arms from the British families they came from.
I'm originally from PA, and the state flag is the coat of arms from William Penn's family. I'd imagine Maryland is in a similar boat.
It is kind of neat being able to spot these planes. One day last week I caught the same plane 2x on the same day.
And here's the WN planes: WN-Photos

DC wants recognition from Southwest Airlines...now everybody wants one!
My nomination for most spectacular livery. Unfortunately it was cloudy the day I took my photos, so here's a link http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Have you seen the Alaska Salmon-Thirty-Salmon? Great name, huh?

-
Okay, Donna, I'm still laughing! Maybe its the 2nd glass of wine but I just can't help it. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...on_biggrin.gif

That's what they are actually calling it. I didn't notice the picture on the first page. It was painted to promote the Alaskan fishing industry but we couldn't figure out why they didn't make the ENTIRE plane the fish. I'm told it has special paint so it shimmers in the sunlight, giving the appearance that the salmon is moving. http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

This conversation is rapidly going downhill!
Frontier's tail livery is really great. Every time I see one of their planes at MDW I always stop to see the tail. The company has done a great job using them in their comercials. If you haven't seen them they always keep a couple of current one's on their site.
