Regional Air Wisconsin Moving to DAY

Air Wisconsin Airlines is looking to invest $1 million and bring dozens of new jobs to the region as part of an expansion project at the Dayton International Airport.
Air Wisconsin — a carrier for United Airlines — plans to relocate maintenance and training operations from Virginia to Dayton, which would create up to 70 jobs and generate $3.4 million in new payroll. The airline currently performs maintenance at the airport, but it employs just a few people.

The extended agreement between Air Wisconsin and the airport would be a win for the Dayton region, as the constant stream of United planes drives more activity at the airport and adds new jobs to the local economy.
Documents from the city of Dayton show Air Wisconsin intends to lease a hangar from Wright Bros. Aero Inc. for no less than five years. The airline is planning to renovate and equip the hangar to support the relocation effort.
To help offset renovation and relocation costs, the city's economic development department is requesting $165,000 in grant funding for Air Wisconsin. Dayton city commissioners are expected to vote on the request this week.
