Baggage for Buddy Pass

Hi everyone,

I'm going to Brasil next week with a Delta BuddyPass, but I have some questions. I can't ask my friend who gave me the tickets because she doesn't know the answers as she doesn't deal with that type of stuff. Anyone who knows please take a minute of your time to help me out and I'll really appreciate it.

How many bags can I take?

The Delta website says for south America you can take 2 bags weighing less than 50 pounds each, but it also says the following:

This confuses me. I have always known that the weight for baggage to Brasil was 70 pounds, but now I'm not sure. So do you know if I can take 50 or 70? I paid for the flight online using the Delta Extranet, so I'm not sure.

Is there a way for me to check the standby list?

When I was paying for the flight I was able to check how many people were on the standby list. At the time I was on the extranet. Is there a way for me to see this information on the internet? (Since I don't have the password to use the extranet)

I just read thru the DLnet for NRSA:
50 # limit for each of 2 checked bags
IF you go over:
51-70# is $150 per bag
So, I suggest you weigh your bags carefully--and keep them a 1-3 pounds light, in case of scale differences

We can ck loads/standbys if we're here. Post flights/dates and we'll give you a look see--what's your employee's hire year?

GOSH--I almost forgot!!! I hope you are not planning to take any oversized bags with stuff like bicycles or ANTLERS (I AM NOT JOKING--that's what the extranet says!!!)

It&#39;ll be 50LBS because you bought the ticket on Travelnet, which means you bought it in the USA. There&#39;s no per pound fee, there&#39;re 2 tiers: 51-70LBS=$150, 71-99LBS=$275 or 300. Keep it under 50.

I found out that I am allowed to call a specific number to hear the standby list. Last time I checked there were 19-22 seats in business class for my two flights and some more in coach. Hopefully it won&#39;t fill up too much.

Paulorific--If your employee friend has a hire date in the 80&#39;s, then you have about a dozen pass riders ahead of you. As of today it looks pretty good for business class. I take it you are Brasilian, so you don&#39;t need a visa, yes? ( I just WISH I could get the 5 yr one!! Thought I&#39;d complain while I&#39;m here!!)

there are unknown priority pax which prob means NW or OAL--NW gets the bump ahead of you

Since my flight has a connection in Atlanta, what am I supposed to do once I get to ATL? My first flight arrives there at 10am and I leave at 9pm later that day. It sucks but for the price I can&#39;t complain. Once I get to the airport what am I supposed to do?

What I&#39;m asking is, once I get on the plane in Miami, will I actually have everything I need or do I have to struggle to get a boarding pass again once I get to the second airport?

I don&#39;t think you&#39;ll get activated until reaching ATL due to the time between flights. Never having to check luggage, that&#39;s something new to me. If they won&#39;t put your bags through, you&#39;ll have plenty to do--getting bags and checking in for GIG, ridiing the train, etc.
Wondering why you are leaving so early am? There are plenty of seats on 12:20 flt # 1990 to ATL.
If you do go early and have to retrieve and keep your bags you can call Comfort Inn North (south is very grubby) and get a day room. I can&#39;t be much--DL discount rate is around $50 overnight. You can explain you&#39;re buddy, not employee because they ask for ID. 404-768-7800 decent pool, wine/beer store walking distance and good mexican restaurant and business center/computer. make sure you have the MIN 2 hours to check in--it&#39;s such a disaster at times and you know how those Brasilians have tons of bags and love to carry lotsa stuff on the plane!!
Good news is 30+ seats open up front and you&#39;re positioned top third. Hope you do something reallly nice for your friend--her seniority is great for you!

If you&#39;ve never been to Atlanta, it may be worth it to go downtown and see the sights. I was there for the first time about 6 weeks ago, and loved it (but maybe I just had to get out of the midwest http://www.nonrev.net/forums/style_e...R#>/tongue.gif ). Very nice city, and you can get downtown from the airport with no problem on MARTA, the light-rail train. You could make a day going to Coke World, Centennial Olympic Park, Underground Atlanta, and the CNN center. Then again, I&#39;m definitely a wanderer, day-trips like those were a weird hobby for me.
