http://www.nonrev.net/infopop/emotic...n_confused.gif Has anyone ever traveled on the Orient Express or any other train vacation? My husband wants to travel by train & I thought I might plan a trip for his birthday. Do they offer airline employee rates? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nowadays there are several 'flavours' of the Orient Express ... see http://www.orient-express.com/ for details. One of our UK travel industry sites, www.touchdown.co.uk , has details of industry rates for some of their routes ( click on brochure rack and look for the VSOE logo ) however it might be worth emailing the company direct to see what rates they would offer you.

Several years ago my hubby and I went on a uniworld "restored Orient Express" trip from Beijing to Moscow. The trip was great, however getting the reservations was a hassle, and be warned, restored to authentic 1900 standards means no air con and 1900 suspension system. The trip fabulous, a slice of life that few of us get to see. The day trips were excellent. Highly reccomend.

I traveled a lot by train:
St petersburg - Moscow- Ulaan Bator - Beijing
Kuala Lumpur - Bangkok
St Petersburg - Riga
Beijing - Hanoi
Hanoi - Saigon
But never received any discount, but then again, the tickets were quite cheap.
If your planning on traveling in Europe, let me know, I might be able to give you a few hints.
www.seat61.com is a great site for train travel!
