Macao--Is it for you?

I've never been. HKG is one of my fave cities (top 10, fer sher). We considered a day trip over but the historical parts seem quite overshadowed (literally) by these:

I have to say that I've experienced a Banyan Tree Hotel once--in BKK--and it was sublime! The mega-glitz hotels leave me cold; probably why I've only been to Vegas once(?)
BTW--if you're in HKG, take your passport; you won't get on the ferry to Macao without it.

I would choose a day trip to mainland China before a day trip to Macau. From what I understand, if you are only going for a day, a local Hong Kong travel agent will arrange for the day trip visa.

I've been to Mainland China several times. Once, on business, interviewing a new factory to manufacture for me (Guangzhou) and Beijing, Shanghai and Kyoto on trips w/Boss. I got a lot of 'mileage' from my China Visa.

U.S. citizens cannot do day trips to mainland China without a Visa, most other countries can though. Then if you have a Visa you might as well do Beijing or Shanghai.
