    Hello there,
I'm trying to plan a trip this summer to Australia and Hong Kong in July and was wondering about the loads at that time. The plan is to do LAX-MEL on QF, and then try MEL-HKG on either QF or CX on ZED. Coming home will be on CX, either to LAX, SFO or YVR...this is a real airline alphabet soup isn't it
I've never been to HKG, so I'm a little worried about loads.. please help!
    Thanks in advance...

Do a search for Hong Kong tourism and check for special events during the month--not just festivals, but major trade/business shows.

How long are you planning on staying in Melbourne? It will be school holidays in Victoria from 28th June until the 13th July (though I don't know how busy it would get there in winter).

    Hi guys,

Having been a lurker for a while, I thought now would be a good time to start offering some assistance, as my home port is MEL.

As Vicki mentioned, July will be school holiday time, so loads are naturally higher.

Qantas fly to HKG daily as QF29, however this flight is almost always oversold, as there is a lot of traffic through to LHR. One suggestion would be to take the QF85, which is one of our newer services that runs a couple of times a week. This flight departs around lunch time, as opposed to the midnight departure, giving a less than desirable time for connections out of HKG to other destinations. Recently I have seen the QF85 go with over 50 spare seats down the back.

CX are also a good option as you mentioned, and they have 3 services a day to HKG, along with some rather friendly staff (they are employed directly by CX, rather than contracted).

Feel free to PM me if you require any actual load information.

    Regards,
    JumboDreaming
