Default delta buddy passes vs companion pass

    Hi everyone

Can you tell me whether is it better to use a buddy pass or companion pass with delta ?
Does the employee need to travel on the same flight with the companion pass holder ?
I Have heard that airline employees are not allowed to sell their perks for monetary but can barter/trade for a FREE vacation 7 nights with someone.

It is illegal to barter, trade or sell DL travel bennies. Companion pass is cheaper than buddy pass. You can travel w/out employee. Buddies have embargo dates and lower priority for boarding, as well as restriction on luggage at select airports; companions do not. Buddies pay distance, taxes/fees fuel surcharges and change fees; companions pay only yield fare and taxes/fees. It's been a long time since I was a companion, but I believe those are the differences. Anyone else add info?

PS--what do you do for SAA? Express or mainline?
