Default Delta Airport Standby List (ASL) Changes

The Delta ASL has had recent changes. What used to be 46 categories is now 58. Notable additions are the "W" class category. W is the COMFORT + coach seat just behind the
First/Business cabin. The "W" class on the ASL pertains to upgrading of the elite Medallion frequent flyers on a complimentary basis. This new category makes it tough on non-revs reducing
the number of cushy comfortable seats with bennies.
The cabin is set up with First/Business and on some long haul flights D1 (Delta1) - then Comfort + Coach and Economy coach (back of the bus riding on the contrails).
Non-revs will still be cleared the same way Class of Pass and Seniority assignment to the best prime seats - but now the elite medallion will be offered the Comfort + seating
before non-revs (creating coach and economy coach vacancies). So if you see the ASL showing a "W" upgrade that is what is happening.

When trying to fly out of ATL some prime-time flights have 2 to 3 pages of revenue and non-revs names listed on the ASL.
Carefully weigh your chances for getting a seat on these flights.

Assuming you can get through the lines. I hear that ATL has some new experimental screening lanes - bins automatic recirculate? How does that work?

Yes Just like AMS (KLM domestic side) Grab a tray, it slowly moves on a conveyor, place items, clear security.

Not having to wait for the person in front of me to have their bag re-run (I always seem to get behind that person) would definitely speed things up.

LHR has had the tray return system for years. Seriously, I flew from there in December 2009 and saw it then. They weigh the bin before returning it, and apparently it's pretty sensitive. As I was going through, I saw one try was stuck because a couple coins were stuck, and that's how I became 12 pence (3 small coins) richer. Still have them somewhere, seeing as how I wasn't been to LHR since!
