I don't know that non-rev either by Zed or ID is particularly worth it any more down here. I mean to say, currently, as of earlier this morning, I found $49 (that's AUD so about $38USD) one way fares on offer from QF for a MEL-SYD flight. It's similar all over the country these days. Once you have your plans in place, hit the websites of QF, VirginBlue and Jetstar and hit them often until you see something that is the right price at the right time. For Feb travel, all carriers will more than likely offer sales anytime during Nov/Dec/Jan, going on past history.
The other problem with nonrevving with QF, is that more and more of it's "leisure" routes are being handed over to LCC offshoot Jetstar. Within a year, I'd doubt there would be many QF mainline flights still left to places like CNS.
