You can look on wikipedia for HKT and figure out how to get there.
Best to get to SIN or HKG and either ZED or purchase ticket.
Since you have to ZED regardless then you could even get to BKK, most of us take our own carrier as far as we can and US carriers have bailed from BKK.

If you want to add extra adventure, fly into beijing (you will have to purchase a ticket to HKT before hand as you need a confirmed seat out) and they have a transit without visa and you can spend a day or two and check out the great wall. Do this going there then head to SIN or HKG back
