If the loads look really iffy the wk before, plan to give yourself an extra day to get back to AMS or CDG. The Novotel (and others) are right by the airport and relatively cheap/accessible for an overnight.
Are you just planning Cairo or beyond to Luxor/Aswan?
The weight issues are darn near every date, but they do get dicier when it gets hot and cargo rev is more than rev pax.
Do you have the perfect second choice for your anniversary? Just in case?

We had planned on spending 5 days on Ko Tao in Thailand to get some beach and snorkeling time. I haven't gotten too serious about planning becuase I didn;t know if it was wise to try and go in July.
We have never traveled abroad before and wanted to travel to someplace that would be special for the ocasion.

You can access Jordan thru Amm (Jordan is really nice---great people) and still zed to CAI. Petra is glorious!
(BTW--You can access Phuket thru HKG and bypass BKK)
