Dress Code Guidelines 4 Upg on DL
Hey! I posted way back in April trying to decide whether to non-rev or confirm from JFK to PSA this July and have decided to gamble and do the old non-rev 'thang' - and just on the rare off chance there may be a business or first class seat available, can anyone tell me what the specific no-no's are for appropriate attire? (Men & women) Are men still required to wear a jacket and tie? Can women wear sandals? (It's been a waaay long time since I've non-reved!) Thanks in advance for any input!
For ZED Travelers Hoping for UPG's...
Hi all! I originally started this thread on the hopes of getting an UPG from JFK to PSA on DL using my ZED ticket - I lucked out on a day that the aircraft was actually WIDE open, front and back, and my husband and I (ZED travelers, different airline) were the only ones on the standby list - I had dressed up because I had tried for F all day on my own airline and got center seats, coach all day - and was so excited and looking forward to 9 hour flight in Business Class - and the gate agent gives us:
21AB
I politely told her that I had listed for Business Class, and had just gotten off the phone with RES who said there were plenty of seats in J and Y, and was it possible to get a Business Class seat?
"Maam" (She should've just stopped right there - I could've strangled her just for using that word) 'Maam, Your ticketing agreement with DL only allows for coach travel - This ticket is only good for COACH.'
And you know we can't say anything, so I walked away fuming - trying not to look at all those empty seats in Business Class, trying not to look at the 'newlyweds' she had just UPG to J, trying just to remain calm.
The best part is, at least now I know NOT to look forward to an UPG (which is why I always LOVED DL - at least they ALWAYS used to UPG if there was a seat!)
The worst part is - that nasty gate agent went into my 'reservation' and changed my J class meal list on my return to Y! (Which I'm not sure is legal, but what am I going to do?)
I guess it's just another case of 'luck of the draw' - who you happen to get, and what type of mood they happen to be in - and maybe even, how did my airline treat her last time she traveled? (In my case, I wouldn't be surprised if it was badly - I'm ashamed to admit.) 27 years and I've seen our customer service progressively go down the toilet.
So best of luck! And remember, be happy if you just get on! (Which I'm sure most of you are already - I'm not sure why I'm having such a hard time dealing with this one?) Anway - we got there, we had a WONDERFUL time, and things didn't get ugly again until we tried to get home...
But that's another story - a shortened version of it is in the 'checking loads' forum under checking DL flight 135 (or 136?) JFK PSA if you're interested. :-)
Thanks to everyone for all your replies! Truly appreciated!
