Thanks
went for Christmas market last year
cold, pretty and somewhat $$ (not as $ as CPH or ARN or ZUR--not as clean, either)
yummy mussels
mrs767er...thanks for your reply. How about Brugge (1.5 train ride from Brussels) ?
Our dear family friends live in Zeebrugge and I have yet to visit them. The last time I saw them, they came here to KY and prior to that I met them in Paris. I'm sure it lovely!! I've seen pics of the seaport and it's the cold, wild North Sea at it's best.
Sorry I don't have first-hand info.
Any particular reason for Belgium? I guess it would depend on what time of year, too.
Brussels was my first trip off of the North American continent.
I loved it and would like to go back.
If you go, check out La Rose Blanche Restaurant at the Grand Place.
Great food.......
BRU appealed to me bcs of the Christmas market. I am also a big Magritte fan and the big museum is there. I have time off and the flights look easy going. Unless of course, there is another major snow storm, always a risk with winter flights though. The other thoughts were Venice or London but my friend from Venice says often the water levels are very high in Venice and can be very smelly and hard to get around. London flights don't look great.
Awesome! Thank you for the dining tip, I will check it out.
I hope VCE isn't bad for JAn--Boss just bid for it, along w/NCE--also BCN and SNN (which I've never visited!)
At least VCE is cheap--around $40 for fees/taxes
All those UK fees kill me! I think they run about $140 now (ow)
when I list for J class on dummy reservation, I only see business class $139
I love BCN, it's a very vibrant town. If you get lucky and get a window seat on the right the AM approach in is beautiful, like a movie score should be playing beautiful. Only spent 3days there but want to return some day because there is so much more to see.
Thanks so much for the BCN clue about right side. I hardly ever keep a window seat--I prefer access to the aisle, being slightly shy of 6' and dislike climbing over the pax next to me to visit the lav and walk about! If I get "stuck" with a right window seat, I will relish it and the view it affords.
