Tokyo is a great city with plenty to do for al, we stayed in the Shbuya district which is centrally located and has a convenient metro stop, JR line and is a stop for the Narita Express. If you enjoy shopping Tokyo is a great city to visit, you can go to Ginza and Harajuku as well as Asakusa and downtown Tokyo. I went with a friend who knows people in Tokyo so this proved to be very helpful. English is not widely spoken everywhere so it might be very helpful to learn some basic Japanese words before you go. Hotels can be on the pricey end, I was planning on burning some Marriot points for my stay there but they could not accommodate 3 people in a room. So we decided to rent a small condo in Shibuya for $800.00 a week, this ended up being a great deal for it's location and overall price. Food- my partner is a vegetarian so this was one of the most challenging things as most Japanese cuisine either includes seafood or is cooked in fish stock. Granted we managed, we learned how to order vegetarian tempura, found vegetarian okonomayaki, encountered an excellent Indian restaurant, and would hit the French bakery near our condo for breakfast everyday. We did a side trip to Kamakura, which is past Yokoama and Kawasaki and found a beautiful temple with a Japanese garden. Kamakura is also home to the great Buddha (a huge statue of a Buddha). The last day we visited Tokyo Disney Sea, which is part of the Tokyo Disney Resort. This was nice, but I would skip it- its pricey and nothing out of the ordinary (for a Disney park), it's very similar to the Disney California Adventure Park in the Anaheim. The weather while in Tokyo was wonderful, sunny everyday and highs in the upper 60's, lows in the upper 50's. I would recommend Tokyo to anyone; great city and people are most helpful and friendly.
