The Southwest Oregon Regional Airport in North Bend is hoping to add one more airline to the list of carriers serving the South Coast's only airport offering commercial airline service.Coos County Airport Commission Chairman Joe Benetti said despite the upcoming closure of the airport's control tower and a current dispute between the City of North Bend about airport fire protection service, the airport is actively persuing an agreement to begin commercial service with Delta Air Lines beginning hopefully in 2014.
"We think adding an eastbound route would be a great thing for our customers and this area," Benetti said. "There is lots of interest in getting an eastbound route established."
Benetti said the route would be operated by Skywest Airlines on behalf of Delta, and since Skywest already operates out of North Bend, the airline and the airport already know each other...
